Unveiling Our Van Life Adventure: Meet S. A. Crow of Bark Adventures!
"Welcome to Bark Adventures with S. A. Crow! we're introducing myself! I'll sharing our journey from residential life to van life and beyond. Join us as we embark on this incredible adventure together!"
Who am I?
Aren’t these the hardest questions? I’m a daughter, granddaughter, sister, friend, caregiver, author, writing coach, and mentor. I’m originally from Southern California but moved to North Texas when I was around seven years old. I’ve always loved stories and came from voracious readers on both sides of my family. Passing a bookstore seemed sacrilegious in some way. I was so lucky that my reading wasn’t censored by my parents. If I thought I could read it, they let me buy it with my money. Hence why I knew Interview with the Vampire by heart by the time I was twelve. I also had the audiobook on cassette and would fall asleep to the sound of the narrator. When I got older, I realized that Louis was quite annoying, but I’m still not a fan of Lestat. My favorite character from the novel will always be Claudia.
What do I do every day?
First and foremost, I’m a caregiver for our Jenn. This is my full-time job and my favorite job. Next, I’m an author with two pen names, S. A. Crow and Ann Crow. I’m also the owner of On the Wings for Writers Discord writing group. I’m also a writing coach and mentor. Mondays, I host Tea Time with S. A. Crow, an author tube and romance read show on YouTube. Fridays and Saturdays, I host writing sprints on the same channel, along with monthly plan with me videos and book talk.
As S. A. Crow, I write a romantic suspense series called the Fire Series. My third novel in this series comes out in December 2023.
As Ann Crow, I write urban fantasy noir mystery. I currently have a Kindle Vella series titled Hematite without Faith, also available on Tapas for readers outside the U.S.
How do I feel about this journey?
I’ve been fascinated by tiny homes and van life for a few years now. I brought the idea to Jenn when we realized that our roommates were transitioning to homeownership due to personal reasons. In October, we will be signing our last two-year lease here. With our financial situation, we can’t really afford an apartment or house rental in our area. So I suggested van life, and the idea blossomed from there.
I’m excited! I love to travel, especially at my own pace. My grandmother and I would often take road trips and explore at our own leisurely speed. The fact that we can have our fur babies with us and I can continue my work makes everything even more amazing.
We are fortunate that a friend is willing to take a box of sentimental items that wouldn’t do well on the road.
The thought of downsizing isn’t a hardship for either of us. We both have moved a lot as kids and know the value of having to pack and transport as little as possible.
